Interim Managers are considered to be the firefighters of the business world. One thing is certain: The number of interim managers has been rising for years. One reason for this is the fact that companies are increasingly thinking in terms of fast and agile processes. “For such projects and tasks that need to be defined with all clarity, the use of interim managers is virtually predestined,” says Björn Knothe, CEO of the personnel consultancy division one.

Acclaimed species: The number of interim managers rises. Interim managers are summoned when companies are in dire need of executives who may fill in. People like Kuhle step in to solve acute problems. They restructure a business, lead it out of crisis or temporarily fill a top position.

According to the Dachgesellschaft Deutsches Interim Management (DDIM, German Interim Management Holding Company), there are currently about 10,000 interim managers in this country. The Arbeitskreis Interim Management Provider (AIMP, Interim Management Providers‘ Work Group) event counts 5,000 more. The number of interim managers has been rising for years. One reason for this is the fact that companies are increasingly thinking in terms of fast and agile processes. “For such projects and tasks that need to be defined with all clarity, the use of interim managers is virtually predestined,” says Björn Knothe, CEO of the personnel consultancy division one, which places managers into permanent positions and interim jobs.
